1. A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO OUR NURSES IN AUGUST 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we celebrated International Nurses Day in August this year with our annual nurses’ day gifts. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all our nursing panel members for dedicating your lives to take care of patients in need. It takes an extraordinary person to save others in spite of one’s own wellbeing. MHR commends you for the incredible personal sacrifices you make, not only at the cost of your own health and safety but also time not spent with your loved ones. Your courage, care and compassion are contagious.

6. AN UP-TO-DATE MHR PROFILE REMAINS KEY
6.1 MHR personal Information update project
We emailed a letter to you at the end of August 2020 with your current personal information on our system. We hereby request that you please check the personal information on this letter, indicate if your information has changed, and submit the completed letter back to MHR. Kindly also ensure that you complete the next-of-kin section, as it is important for MHR to have this information on record in case of an emergency.
6.2 Personal information changes
Please contact your local MHR office and not the client if any of your personal information changes as indicated below:
- Cell phone or home/work landline number
- Email address
- Residential or postal address
- Marital status
- Additional qualifications
- Banking details
- If you are no longer a moonlighter (permanently employed elsewhere) or have become a permanent employee
7. COVID-19 VULNERABLE PEOPLE SURVEY
Since the beginning of May 2020, MHR emailed a ‘Vulnerable People’ survey to all panel members to complete and send back to MHR. Thank you to those of you who have submitted completed surveys to MHR. This is an urgent call to all panel members who did not complete the survey to please do so and email it back to us. It is for your wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of your family. It is also a legal requirement for MHR as an employer to have this information on record as it allows us to prevent vulnerable staff members from being exposed to a high-risk COVID-19 work environment.
If you have not received a survey to complete via email, please inform your MHR branch so that we can provide you with a survey.
Please note that the information will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be used to prevent vulnerable staff members from being exposed to a high-risk COVID-19 work environment.
8. PANEL MEMBER GUIDE TO COVID-19
We are delighted to share our new hands-on ‘Panel member guide to COVID-19’. This guide includes steps that you, as an MHR panel member, should follow in the event that you:

9. LAST, BUT NOT LEAST
We would like to quote the following message from Mediclinic International CEO Dr Ronnie van der Merwe as a final word of inspiration:
‘In the midst of the previous global recession, Barack Obama made famous the phrase “Yes, we can” by using it as his presidential campaign slogan. The power of this phrase endures to this day, because of its ability to evoke a sense of pride, optimism and community. You can use it to unite a nation – as he did – or to inspire a group of people towards a common purpose. Our successes are, after all, not defined by ‘me’ moments, but by ‘us’ endeavours.
Although the challenges of our time may feel overwhelming, we are confident in our ability to work together. Together, we not only can, but will, enhance the quality of life.’
